changing out an auto for a 6 speed

how big of a mess will this be? am i looking for a project that will be more of a pain in the butt than good.

Let your fingers do the walking through the internet. Choose the six shooter you desire and make a deal. Otherwise I can't even begin to list the problems you'll encounter. Just the ECM and associated controls would be enough to stop me.

As suggested, first fill out your sig, it helps with specifics on your truck.

As for the topic - not a good idea on a modern vechile to go changing things like this. Plenty of 6-speeds out there, pick up one of those. If you DID decide to tear into your truck to do this, you would void your warranty, lower your resale value, mess up your drivetrain and electronics, and on and on.
