As has been mentioned, you can drain the trans by simply removing the lower bolt on the PTO cover. However, if you pull the PTO cover on the drivers side there is a small square flat magnet in the bottom of the trans that can be removed and cleaned. Mine needed it.

I'll pull the PTO cover next time and clean said magnet. The fluid came out looked brand new, although the tranny does shift a little smoother with the new fluid. Go figure. I'll have to go by Mopar and buy another quart of 75W-140. Don't want to be driving around low on that stuff.

Sure wish DC would make up their minds about what weight gear oil to use. I presume the 75W140 recommendation refers to 03MY trucks as well.

I really have to question that TSB. It looks slightly suspect (title). Both my owners manuals and service manual state 75W-90 synthetic front and rear.

I used Pennzoil Synchromesh fluid but the next time I will try Redline MTL.

AaronT,
I question the title also, but that maybe a typo on the webpage.

I'm changing to 75w-140 when the new PML cover arrives.

I use Redline MTL in 6 spd and Amsoil Series 2000 75w-90 in frt and rear ends.

I believe recommendation for 75w-140 is if you do alot of towing, all the time. Owners manual states the same info.

I don't believe the TSB....

Whether or not you believe the TSB is your choice. Personally, I'll believe it, especially since I do a lot of long trips with towing/hauling. I still need to go get that extra quart and fill the diff to the hole, though.

Now, if it told me to put in 600 weight oil in the differential, then I might be suspicious. Anyone who knows what car actually takes 600 weight oil in the differential go give yourself a cookie!
