Intercooler end caps are non-metalic (should we really call it plastic?) material, but it is much easier to get out than the older ones, only the condenser is mounted to mine with 4 very easy to get at screws. I guess they will probably be like non-metallic radiator end caps and need replaced at 5-6 years or 100 - 150,000 miles. Might want to carry bubble gum or crazy glue or duct tape.
I'm sure it will be less expensive to replace than repair when the time comes for the split plastic. Jeff
