Can I use a MAP sensor from a later year?
Can I use a MAP sensor from a later year?
My MAP Sensor seems to be out, judging by the codes I'm getting. My 05 Dodge 3500, 5.9 Diesel, has an AFE cold air intake system on it that apparently uses an aftermarket MAP sensor in order to clear the hood. I cannot seem to find the same MAP sensor anywhere. The correct sensor for the '05 has a 90* connector that won't work, because it will hit the hood. The '07.5-16 sensor looks like the one I'm replacing and has the correct electrical connector angle, but I need to know whether it will actually work on my '05. All I would need to do is change out the connector to the late model one.
Anybody know? Anybody have a late model connector they would like to sell?

Never mind. I think I finally located what I need. Found if on eBay, of course. Now to see if the Dodge place has it tomorrow!

Hey, thanks for posting that! The parts look similar, so I was mis-identifying the IAT sensor for the MAP sensor. They both have 289k on them, and I'm not sure which one is the culprit for my current issues, so I'm replacing them both, just to make sure.
I'm getting codes p0243 and p0069.

Boy, do I feel stupid!
I bought both the IAT sensor and the MAP sensor and installed them both. Still throwing codes. Hmmmm. Did more research. Came on a thread in another forum where somebody mentioned that the P0243 code relates not to the MAP, but to the turbo waste gate actuator, and that the actuator and engine cooling fan clutch are on the same electrical circuit.
Last week I had a fan malfunction and had the fan replaced.
So, I checked my fuse for the fan circuit. Yep. Blown 10A fuse.
So, I spent $250 for parts I didn't need, because I didn't think to check my fuses first.
So, codes are all cleared now, truck is running well. And I have a spare IAT sensor and a spare MAP sensor.
