can flashing kill power
can flashing kill power
This is my first attempt to post so i am not sure that i am doing it right but here it is. Last spring i purchased a 2006 with a 5.9 Cummings in it. i loved the Truck it had power to spare but the tech didn't work, so when i took it back to have the new tachometer put in i think they fried my quadzilla (i should have taken it out but i didnt know) and they couldn't get the cluster to flash with the truck computer 3 hours of flashing the new cluster to find out that the cluster cant be flashed backwards. they returned that cluster and got another, this time it worked. my question is could this have done something to the truck other then just frying my Quadzilla.
I dont know if this is the answer to your question but when I bought my 06 new in 07 and first joined this forum there were a number of threads about people coming back from the dealer with re-flashed trucks that were low on power and getting worse MPG. Try a search for 06 flash or 5.9 common rail flash Im sure there is a ton of info archived. Good Luck
I started getting lower mpg numbers and did not know why until I noticed the sticker on the hood that the dealer had re-flashed the computer, now I understand why I get lower mpg numbers, I wish they would of asked me before they did it being I never asked them to flash the computer nor did I have any reported problems for them to think it was needed.
I had the K01 emissions reflash done. Aside from the procedure frying my ECM(Dodge bought/installed/reprogrammed a new one) the truck runs identical.
I reinstalled the latest Smarty updated program and away she went.
