Blowing smoke on 2005 3500
Smokindog,
I telling the truth, when I say that my '97 Powerstroke does not smoke. It is white, hasn't been washed in over 6 months, and there is NO discoloration on the rear. As for the '02 F350, the flatbed is black, but I have never noticed black smoke coming out and you can run your finger on the underside of the bed and you will not get any black on your finger.
I never did get a response on the exhaust extension, if anyone knows where I can get one. Also, where can I get black wheels? My truck is that sport package with those plastic chrome inserts in the duals, and caps on the front. I am getting RanchHand bumpers on it and want black wheels to match. Can I have my steel wheels painted? If so, what process is the best in that regard?
Thanks.

Fuel economy in smokin' beauty was 17.8 mpg until recently when it has dropped to 16.7 mpg on the highway, unloaded. I get about 15.5 mpg in the city when I don't get on it.
When pulling just my 24' aluminum stock trailer (4700 lbs) it gets 14.5, when loaded with 15 grown cows I drop to 11.5 mpg on backroads with hills and going through rural towns to get to the sale barn. I was told that the mileage would go up 3-4 mpg as I got closer to 20,000 miles on the odometer, but it is getting worse. I have 12,800 miles on it.
These mileages are according to the HUD. I have not done a hard mpg like I do with my Fords.

yeah the smoke isnt like you would think. usually if you rev it like floor it down the road itll be clear ( lil haze) then all the sudden blaahhhhhhh out ot comes
All the way up to the red line. as far as the numbers on the manual and auto, are a bit off i believe. anyway. Life is good, It really isnt a problem. Ive wondered if itll do the same with a straight pipe exhaust
ive wondered if the exhaust doesnt collect the soot and blow it out with the higher exhaust flow and heat of full throttle

Faol, pop off your center caps, the rims are black,
for the smoke I would pop off the air filter lid, and check under the filter for anything that would starv it for air, on dads 02 it was packed full of straw, turned out to be a mouse nest, cant happen any more, with the BHAF

Mine smokes like that and I am planning on taking it in. I cannot imagine that this is the way that it is supposed to be. It runs well but the mileage is dropping a little, not much though. I replaced the air filter, no help.
faol... I am running a MagnaFlow exhaust tip. It is 13" long 4"-5" diameter. Mines welded on but you can clamp them on too. The Magnaflow is really nice. I think Dodge has one you can buy as well. Plus Gibson makes some, etc. Look in the 3rd generation accessories forum. There should be alot of info there.
