Blackstone report

Looks good to me...

I changed the oil with so few miles on it because I had been gone for six months, and the wife was driving the truck once or twice a week... figured 7 months on the oil, better change it out.

Also, Blackstone has some great customer service... I sent this off Tuesday, and got it back Friday. Very friendly e-mail they sent me.

Its worth it...I do my sample every 25k to keep an eye on extended wear...so far so good. Next sample will be with the Cummins Premium Blue I got in it now, gonna go 7500 on it.

That's pretty good mark. I have seen how you drive that thing...It is nice to see that the oil is doing a good job. Was that cj-4 or ci-4 oil? Talk to you later pal..Justin

Not enough for them to say anything... so I'm not concerned. If blackstone likes it, I like it.

How do you catch your sample, do you put the bottle in the flow coming out of the pan when you change oil? Thanks.

If you are wanting to see if the oil is still good for continued use

I would,,,,,

Unscrew the filter and pour some in the bottle then put the filter back on???????

When I am draining the oil. I catch it when it is about halfway done draining.

Blackstone sells a pump that you can use to go through the dipstick tube to sample between changes.

Madhat, not trying to alarm you, but that iron level is a bit high for the low miles on that oil. I use Blackstone Labs and have about 7 reports on my Cummins so far. One thing I've noticed is that the comments on their reports have made no sense in the last couple years. I think they are using high school kids to write the reports. Your iron number is what it should be if your oil had 6000+ miles on it. Do you have other reports to compare? You need to trend your oil and engine. Don't fret over this one as it very well could be an anomaly or a bad result on Blackstones part. Everything else looks fine with the report.... cept I like to see some Moly.

This is my first report... this oil was in the truck for 7 months with very little driving. I expect to see some weird readings. I just wanted to make sure that there was nothing major, fuel or antifreeze... I've beat on this thing a little, so I'm worried about it.

That being said, I do love on it a bit... so I want to make sure I can catch stuff before it happens...
