Bio-diesel And Additives

have been reading a bit about the use of different % of bio-diesel, as well as home brews and svo, and many are recommending the use of an additive called 'ldl' (longer diesel life) with any bio's. they say that bio's have a higher instance of bacteria and fungus, and a shorter shelf life than 100% petro, and ldl will help with these, and other issues. i've been using ldl in my last 2 ctd's as my regular anti gel/injector cleaner fuel additive, and it's worked real well for me. thought this might be interesting for anyone who is running, or considering running any bio.

I have never heard of the bacteria problem in vehicles that get used. Mostly in boats and tractors and equip that has been sitting. The bacteria thrives in the interface between water and fuel so keeping the tanks full helps.
When you add Biodiesel to an old tank it may "clean it out" in a most inconvenient way. Be ready with a few fuel filters. Pure Biodiesel cleaned the scale off the inside of my ford tractor tank and I had to drain the fuel twice and rig a makeshift pre-filter. I haven't used an additive. I have been storing my Biodiesel in a poly tank through 2 winters with no obvious problems.

from what i've read, bacteria will grow more easily in trucks running bio, especially in warm, humid weather.

Chipmonk, I would be interested in reading what you read. Any idea where you found it?

one of the places was freedomfuelamerica.com. there are several others that i found by doing searches for 'bio diesel' and 'longer diesel life'.

If you get an algae problem then all you do is add an additive to kill it off.
