Thanks for taking the time to post your experience with the 5165 series shocks. I had thought briefly about purchasing the 5100 series, which I believe are the most popular choice among third gen. owners given their price point. However; I am looking for a better than average shock in order to improve the overall ride, especially on long trips.

With that being said, your well thought out and informative review has me sold on the 5160 series reservoir shocks. Thanks again.

Last week I had my truck coated with a product called Rust Check. This stuff looks like a cross between WD40 and Auto tranny fluid and is applied to prevent rusting. They coat everything underneath with it including the coil and leaf springs. That stuff is acting like a lube on the sroings and this truck now rides really half decent now. Even better over having the Bilsteins on. So are we supposed to "lube" springs? Hi-po ricer guys do it for relieving coil spring bind.
