Shoulda kept the 12v! Best in my opinion of all the trucks. I love my early 07' tho i won't lie, but wish I could find an 03 or early 04 as a play truck. They sound better and best of all have good fuel mileage.

I got $13,500 for my 98, thought it should give me almost a CR, they are in the $12,500-17k price range over here. most ahe over 200k miles though.

I aint sure what ill get yet... i thought looking for a 04.5 and up was the best, to make more power, i didnt think so many would recommend a 03,

... I didn't want to buy a new truck either, but I couldn't find a used 3500, SRW QC 4x4 with a 6 6 spd manual that didn't have a ton of miles on it...

I don't see the attraction to anything before 04.5. The newer ones do so much better with programmers etc than the older ones.

Interesting though the people who say the older ones are better are the people who already have them.

I don't buy new(er) trucks too often so I'd want something as new as I could afford, I wouldn't buy a 5 yr old truck.

thanks... if I ever git rid of my 97 12v (unlikely)

03/04 is what I'd be looking for... no question newer trucks have a MUCH nicer interior!

I love my 03 HO! I think the later years have more pollution garbage that hurts your MPG's! My opinion only! You can take it and $3.89 and buy a gallon of fuel in Mississippi as of yesterday anyway!

Emissions stuff? Whats all this talk about having cats? The only bad thing about the newer 600 series trucks is you have to wait for the old 03's to catch up. Tends to wear down our breaks more.

I vote 04.5 because
a) it has a REAL fuse box (no TIPM).
b) easy to mod.
c) metal innercooler
d) 4" exgaust
e) NV5600 (which I perfer over the G56)
f) people make 500hp with cats all the time, plus they are easy enough to remove.

I love my 06 but would much rather have the NV5600 and a real fuse box.

I like the 03-04's and no, not just cause I own one. I own it BECAUSE I did 3 months worth of research before I bought it in 05.

04.5 here and only wanted a 04.5 or 05. 4" exhaust is nice, what's a cat? I looked under my truck and all I see is 4" exhaust pipe.... 06+ have interior I can't even sit in without getting a sore back, and they stain by looking at them, leather is better but still not as good as the 03-05. Good luck finding a 03-early 04 with low miles in good shape, when I was shoping a year ago it was hard enough find a 04.5 or 05 with under 60k miles!
