I was actually thinking the driveshaft u-joints could be making that sound, not the axle u-joints....but at any rate the major problem here is DW!!!!

CrabJoe, I have a few questions that may help everyone here troubleshoot your problem....
How many miles are on the aflicked truck???
What front end components have been replaced and when??
What condition are your tires in, have they been rotated/wearing evenly??
Do you still have stock shocks??

I hope we can help you solve your DW prob cost effectively. Although fresh wheel bearing are nice to have, and even better if they come with locking hubs!!!!

Redeye, I have an 2wd with 122k on the clock. Tires are in great shape, orig. shocks and I just replaced the front pads thats when I checked the front end. There was no slop either side to side or up and down. Just getting loud so I'm sure its the bearings talkin to me. Also no DW for me.
I can get the timkens for $200 and change that ain't such a bad deal. I'll save the labor and doo them myself with help from my bud.
