Question Anyone heard of this? Or had this problem?

Had my truck into the dealer getting new injectors installed, so I wanted them to do an alinement on the truck because there was some play in the wheel and my truck was all over the road. Anyways, the mechanic told me that my truck didn't need a alinement, he said I needed a new drivers side upper ball joint with a 5 degree offset to fix the problem. I never heard tell of this before, I'm wondering now if it could be the lift that caused this????

did you have the problem before the 37's? pulling (drifting) to the right, is common, especially when running bigger tires. do a search, and you'll see numerous threads regarding this issue. offset ball joints has been talked about as a possible solution, but not the only one.

Those adjustable balljoints are very nice when trying to align. a lifted truck. They can help you out alot on the caster.

bought mine from rockauto.com this was the cheapest price i could find, including looking local. just checked their prices- the lower ball joints are 4 bucks cheaper than when i bought them six months ago, and the upper ball joints are now 6 bucks more expensive.
ball joints/greaseable-lowers-58.89 each (k7467)
ball joints/greaseable/adjustable-uppers-99.79 each (k7448)

Put the adjustable ones in, take it from somebody who does this crap all day long. Your mechanic will thank you.

can you get the same, or similar results from adjusting the caster on the pass side (negative cross caster), therefore causing a slight left hand pull, to offset the right hand/road crown drift?

Before the lift I had 35's on stock wheels and had no problems, now my truck drifts all over the road from left to right.

Would I have to get upper/lower adjustable ball joints for both sides?? And I'm guessing a duel steering stabilizer will also help with the drifting.

how many miles on the tires? many people have wandering issues on new tires, especially big ones, that fix themselves after allowing some break-in time- some good heat cycles. what about tire pressure? what are you running front and rear?

I'm not quite sure on the amount of miles on the tires, I had them on for about 5/6 months now. The tire pressure is something that I'm going to check tomorrow. What pressure should I have, front/rear???

it would depend on what the max pressure is for your tires. on my 35x12.50x17 toyo mt's, max pressure is 65 psi, and i'm running 55 front and 45-50 rear.
