Anyone ever heard of this?

Last week while traveling to CO from NV in friends 06 mega cab, we stopped in Rock Springs WY to fuel up. Went to start truck and it would not crank--no click, thunk, nothing. My friend said this had happened once before and evidently what caused it is rolling to a stop with truck in gear, but ignition off?

He said we had to disconnect a grey plug with a single yellow wire that is behind driver side battery and short male side of it to positive battery terminal to "reset something" Anyway, it was very cold out and neither one of us could get that **** plug disconnected, so we got someone to pull start us and went on our way, all the while I am telling him hes stoned, cause the yellow wire he says we have to short to the battery is CONNECTED to the battery anyway, so there is no way it will do anything.
We never shut the rig off till we got to Fort Morgan CO where we stopped to eat and it was in the fifties and got the connecter disconnected and shorted it to the battery terminal, and by god it worked---truck started just fine after that?-------Is this something that anyone has heard of before, cause it's a new one for me?

Check out this thread -

I have had this happen to me 3 times. I had it "fixed" the first time, then just disconnected the battery the last couple times. The sure sign that this is it is that the key FOB doesn't work.

He said the first time it happened that they disconnected the batteries and it didn't fix the problem. Also said that it was same scenario-----shut off truck while still rolling with clutch pedal pushed in and tranny in gear.

My only advice then is for him to quit doing that.
