Anybody with a SBC DD.

Whats the best method for taking off from stoplight/sign and not jumping like I just learned how to drive a standard? The harder I try to keep from doing it the worse it gets. Seems like when I'm by myself it's hardly noticable. Wife gives me crap at every takeoff. Stage fright I guess. Any tips would be helpful.

Don't dump the clutch, but don't let it try to slip either. A little quicker engagement than the oem clutch seems to work the best for me.

If she has a problem with the way you drive, tell her to get out and walk.

It will take you time but you will find a way of you own.
I take off in first every time and just let the clutch out gently then start to give it the gas then I am in 2nd gear in the next second or so.

To stop the jumping I find it much easier to take off in first, though you will have a hard time doing that jumping out in traffic (you know, that whole 0-5 MPH before you need to shift). Second does take some work, ease into it and a little quicker where is really starts grabbing. Takes a few weeks of consistent driving to really get good with it.
