Any advice welcome
So I got my first Cummins and it is definitely a learning curve...it’s a 2006 5.9l I started it on a cold morning about 25degrees out I let it run for about 5 mins (obviously not long enough) but I put it in gear and started driving down my hill and it just shut off and would not start. I notice the grid heater smoking on the hot wire side. I replaced that but it’s still doing it?? And still no start I’m getting fuel to the injectors I’m just not sure if it’s enough pressure? I’m a one man band and kinda Ill equipped. how do I tell if I’m getting enough fuel pressure and if it’s too low what are common problems

25* is definitely not cold enough to cause running problems... Sounds like something happened electrically if the grid heater wire was smoking. I'm guessing the grid relays didnt shut off and something melted causing the engine to shut down. At this point I would suggest going through the normal start procedures and checking to see if everything does its normal thing. Check battery voltages too and see if there's voltage to that grid heater wire you saw smoking.
