AMSOIL...Who's using it? Opinions?

Well, I lost my connection on getting free Rotella T so I finally have an excuse to switch over to AMSOIL and I was wondering if anyone on here is using it or has used it....and what you think about it? I've heard nothing but GREAT things about it. The idea of driving 15-20k miles on a oil change would amazing...and even more mileage if you use the oil-bypass filter setup...

Any input would be great appreciated!

Shell Full Synthetic (blue gal. jug) from your local Auto store or Walmart if you support them. Works for my cars, bikes, and CTD

Makes it simple.

I cannot say personally but,

We recently bought a 94 chevy P/U (350 V-8) for my son. It has 270k on it, runs fine, has been on amsoil since ???
The only thing is.... 7.50 a quart! --- I will go 5000 between oil changes on the chevy but 15k seems extreme even for a CTD.

Thats what they claim if you use their oil and oil filter...anywhere from 10-20k mile intervals depending on how you drive.

A local shop did a test on a 7.3 PowerStroke that had 205k miles on it. Ran AMSOIL in it for 26,000 miles and did an oil test.....test showed the oil was still 93% effective. Quite amazing really....

Not a big Amsoil fan. There is better oil out there, but Amsoil does have a big following.

I have the dual bypass filter setup and would do the single if I was doing it over. The newer trucks need to use the single and I think they are better for even the 2nd generation trucks.

I have just under 70 thousand on my current oil and have plans to change the oil out somewhere between 75 and 100 thousand just to do it.....

Sounds like you've already made up your mind so why ask.

I used it before on various vehicle and engines from gas to diesel to marine. Never seen anything better about it than regular oil except -zero startups might have been a little better. The cost is too extreme for me so I use regular oil.

If your really concidering extended drain intervals use regular oil and have analisis done just like you would with synthetic. You might be pleasantly surprised how long you can run regular oil and save tons of money over synthetic.

ON EDIT:: I forgot to mention, I bought my 1999 dodge cummins new and it came with regular oil in every component. I switched the engine, transfer case, front and rear differentials to amsoil and never seen any fuel mileage improvement.

I'am sure redline would say they are better. Then I'am sure royal purple would say they are better.

www.myoilshop.com = redline oils.
www.longrider.com = royal purple oils.

If anyone has an itch to compare just click on the above links.

I have to agree, my 10,000 mile oil samples come back as good to keep running - that is with MFA 15w-40 petroleum. I do not know how much further I could go, I change it at 10k if I go that far.

I run amsoil in the engine and diffs. It seems like a pretty good oil and I also change the oil every 20k. It could go longer. I still change the filter every 5k though. It is mainly preference.

Hope this helps

Not necessarily made up my mind, if there was enough negative feedback about AMSOIL then I would probably not start using it. I've heard nothing but good things though usually....
