Alison Tranny

Has anyone looked into swapping an Alison tranny into one of the 3rd gens. I got mine with the 6spd when that was all that was offered with the HO. I would love to have an lectronic Alison if it could be done. Any info would help.

I think it would be cost prohibitive. And I think it would mess up the likes of your truck. The whole interier would be cobled up . Would ruwen a nice 3rd gen truck.

I disagree. If you knew someone in the RV business or someone at Allison, I bet it could be done. Cummins has lots of ISB's and C's in diesel pushers that have the Allison 1000 trans.

It would be sweet to combine the Alli's "grade sensitive downshifting" capability with the exhaust brake. You'd never have to use the service brakes.

I would take a hard look at that combo if it was at all reasonable. It has to be easier than putting a cummins in a ford . At least i would think so. Keep us posted.

The RV's that have diesel pushers are using a different Cummins and a different Allison, the 3000 NOT the 1000 that the Chubbies have.
