Alga in tank,,Pull Tank ???
Alga in tank,,Pull Tank ???
Do I need to drop the tank and clean it our just put treatment in the tank and change filters clean everthing else?? Im putting a 2mic filter after this ourdeal.. The crap in my fuel system took out my injectors
trucks been sitting for about three months. Im not sure if I got a bad tank of fuel three months ago when the truck started running bad our if the injector went bad and then i let it sit for three months waiting for parts and then the maybe the algae grew in the tank and messed up the new injectors??
There is algae in all diesel fuel... The fuel conditioner I use has an algaecide in it to help control the growth. Its always gonna be there, its just a matter of keeping it down to a level that doesn't hurt the engine.

Microbial Clean-ups (POWER SERVICE WEBSITE)
Microbes in the form of bacteria and fungus are present in all diesel fuels. If the fuel system is not treated with Bio Kleen Diesel Fuel Biocide on a quarterly basis, microbes can grow into colonies, resulting in fuel-filter plugging and in severe cases, fuel tank corrosion and leakage. The first indication of microbial contamination in a diesel fuel system is decreased fuel-filter life. Power Service has designed a microbial clean-up procedure that is quick and cost-effective.

Algae looks like black mud. Often a dirty fuel filter will not have dirt in it but algae in it. Looks the same. If you plan to leave the truck sitting for a while it's best to fill the tank so it can't breath with the temperature changes and get more atmospheric moisture in there.
I would not drop the tank but put in some algaecide and plan on changing the filter several times at shorter intervals until they start looking clean.
