I was looking around under the hood of my new truck and found the air filter box is not connected to the fitting to the fender well. There is what looks like a foam gasket that fills about half the space. I guess it is also blocking half the space on the bottom. <br><br>I looked at a neighbors truck and his is the same way. <br><br>Has anyone else noticed this?<br><br>Is this a design flaw?<br><br>Is it hurting performance?<br><br>I am taking it in to the shop for the first oil change next week so I will see what Dodge says.<br><br>

 

A guy that works on my truck and really knows his stuff on cummins yanked mine out and said that it only restricted air flow and was better off not being there

I have a 02' and was lookin around under the hood after I bought it and noticed the same thing, filter housing was not connected to the fender and two of the tree bolts that hold it down were pulled through. two minutes later and I had it fixed myself, it should be attatched to the fender.

 

my 99 is the same way!! just one holdin it down!!! whats up?<br>
