8.1-9.2 mpg hauling 6,500lbs...Whats wrong w/ my truck?
Have you towed with the smaller tires before you stepped up? I tow almost the same weight and tires getting 10-10.5. At very reasonable speeds. I truely think that the tires suck for towing. It changes the whole dynamics of the vehicle as to rpm's and leverage to the ground from the tires. I am going back to factory sizes.
I also think that the TC was not locked and you pushed it unlocked.

I am starting to suspect the ULSD fuel has a lot more to do with it than anything. That and some of the worst traveling weather I have see so far. I dunno, but I was ready to pull injectors and drop $2k to have them rebuilt even though I have no other symptoms.
I get way better than that (11-12 mpg) pulling nearly twice the weight, in the mountains no less with a little-bitty S.O. engine. Sumthin's definitely wrong. Maybe you should sell the ford, bad karma.
Also check your tire pressures on truck and trailer, I run mine at max all summer.

Oh and I would sell the Ford but if someone came to take a look at it to buy it I am sure they would want me to pay them to take it!

J/K its not that bad but it is old, crusty, and has a hair problem
The dogs sure do love it though!
