600 trans test port.. anyone using it??
anyone tap the trans test port for using a trans temp sensor on the 600 48re trans??
if so - did you use a bell reducer to keep the temp sensor out of the port... are did you just use the temp probe???
I have only used the truck today and don't think the temp sensor is working correctly!! it is only reading 100 deg. F. ??
ps: I used a bell reducer, bushing, and temp probe!

I used the test port. ATS said it was the next best thing to the pan, and suggested against the trans outlet line.
There were two they offered, and I used the one that points towards the rear of the truck...I think, I'd need to look.
One you needed the reducer/bushing combo because the probe bottomed out, the one I used you didn't.
Ya, the trans doens't heat up much when it's cold outside. Turn the AC on, drive in a lot of stop and go...something like that and it might budge a wee bit.

I used the trans port passenger side facing rear no adapters. it takes a long time for the tranny temp to come up sometime a half hour or more. If i put a trailer on it comes right up. check my web page for some photos.
I also used the rearward facing test port. I was wondering the same thing about the low temps. Mine takes quite awhile to get a reading over 100*. After reading this thread it looks like those readings are normal for this tranny. I did not have to use any adapters either.
I was told to use the adapter... was told not to let the sensor block the line?? I will have to check on what exactly is "inline" in the test port!!
ps: DTR advertiser - Diesel Power Products told me to do it this way!
