4x4 Wheelin with an Open Diff
#16
I think the thing is a wimpy skid plate. I was disappointed with my first dodge, I figured 4X4 would mean posi or ls, and that there would be skit plate..... didn't realize how much dc mix and matches. 3 trucks later I finally have one that has all I expected, and needed.

Get a winch or call AAM.
Call American Axle and check their website. If you need a traction device soon, they have 6 or 8 different types and have a competent drive train shop install it. Also, you can always get a winch to make up for the open diff in the short term. make sure you get something for the front, too.

If you have open diffs and you are going hunting chain up it will get you in and out of places you thought you would never have a chance. been there done that many years. cheaper than new diffs

Evidently Dodge offers an open diff selectable locker on the 9.25in front axle and a limited slip with selectable locker for the 10.5" rear axle on a new Power (?) Wagon truck. It only works in 4W lo as I recall. The components for the front should be a drop in ? for our axles, and would probably work well on our trucks as they're pretty nose heavy. The rear locker would work better for heavier loads.
