My Dad has and '06 4x4 auto and the 4x4 light no longer comes on when he puts it in 4 wheel drive. He works on a farm and often puts it in 4 wheel drive and then frogets to put in in 2x4 because of the light issue. Where is the sending unit located?

does he have the dimmer switch turned all way down by chance? does it actually go into 4wd?

 

The switch is located on the transfer case near the shift input. It looks a lot like a reverse light switch on a manual transmission. In fact, I am pretty sure I have a picture of the switch in my gallery. It is the smaller of the two pictured.

 

Is the power still there to the overhead console?(compass, mileage lie-o-meter, etc)same time my 4x4 light went out on my electronic engagement ****, I lost power to the overhead console. Still trying to figure it out. 4x4 still engages though.
