4" Exhaust

Got my 4" exhaust on the '03 the other day. If you're in the market for a 4" aluminized or stainless kit, look no further than Diesel Performance Parts for one of their kits. Mine was off and back on it under 45 minutes. Sounds wicked.

Re:4" Exhaust

got the same system, and for anyone considering same consider this. it is louder, much more than stock, whenever you put the fuel to it. they do make a really good looking system but it is a little more noise than i wanted, don't get me wrong, if you want louder i highly recomend it, i personally just got more than i wanted. last note, definately a performance boost and am pretty sure mileage has improved.

Re:4" Exhaust

I had Rip install a 4" system with muffler and resonater and it is near stock in sound volume. Perhaps getting a resonator in there might be able to get you down to a happeir volume?

I've cruised 80-85 on the interstate and there is no drone or any obnoxious tone from the exhaust. However, when you lay down on it, it opens up real nice.

Plus it's got this cool side effect of being able to hear the turbo spool out the exhaust when you're revving it at idle. I couldn't be more pleased with the fit and finish of the kit. I got it on suggestion from a friend of mine, that has it on a Dollarmax.

Re:4" Exhaust

mopar mudder

it is a nice system, and at cruise not really any more noise. but, with mine, lots of in cab noise when towing or if you put your foot in it with low rpms, tough to carry on a conversation. this truck is so quite stock that right now i think i made a mistake just because of noise. but performance wise big help. i am however looking for other muffler options, straight through may just not be for me.

Well I went and did, just ordered one up and will see how I like it. If it is too much I can always change muffler I guess.

How long did it take to come in? Would be nice to have by the weekend, but I can't imagine that would happen....

Re:4" Exhaust

quick delivery, probably get it on friday, post what you think noise wise, it may just be me on the noise. i put a flowmaster on my 98 qc and hated it also. this is my first muffler change in 5 years and i now remember why. but it had to be done and i have no real regrets.

Re:4" Exhaust

Its on, the worst part is getting the old stuff off with out cuttin it >

Istall was easy other then the fact that you have to cut a mid pipe off, way I understod it this was a "no cut" system, oh well. I also cut the end of the tail pipe off cause it stuck out to far, you can slide the tip on and hide it, but it looks better to cut it off. I have the tip stuck out further then the stock was also to keep the side of the truck clean.

As far as sound goes. To tell you the truth I was expecting it to be much louder then it is. At an idle their is very little change. Cruising down the road if you turn the radio off you can tell it is a little louder in the back, but not much at all. When you get on it their is more of a diesel sound to it for sure. I am happy with it, just was expecting louder is all.

Re:4" Exhaust

glad you like it, maybe i'm just getting to old. you're right idle is fine just lugging where it is louder. mark said that is not unusual since i have the auto. we are going to try adding another straight through muffler to see what happens, it is sweet with the window down though.
