3rd Gen transmission not engaging
3rd Gen transmission not engaging
I parked my truck last night and ran into the butcher shop. When I got back into the truck I put it in reverse and nothing happened. I engaged and disengaged the shifter a couple times and then the shift lever went LOOSE…. nothing there. I climbed under the truck and the cable had broken the clip that connects it to the shift lever coming out of the transmission. I was able to manually shift it back into park and TEMP attach the cable. After trying to shift into reverse several times and run through the gears I couldn’t get it to engage. I added fluid and still wouldn’t engage. I could almost feel it trying to shift into the gears but not enough to move the truck. When I put it into park it kindof made a light “grind“ noise but not really metal on metal almost a plastic sound. I had a friend come over and in the parking lot he got under the truck and tried to manually engage it while I was shifting the lever. Nothing. We put it in 4x4 and I drove home with no issues.
Any ideas y’all? Thanks for any help
