You should have had a seperate catagory for the 05-06 trucks, they have a different lift pump set-up.

The 03-04.5 have the fuel canister mounted lift pump.

I can't vote cause I don't have a 3rd gen, but I know of 3 that have.

2-2004.5 no mods

Mine failed at 29,465. Not completly but enough to kill the cp3 and the dealer checked the flow from it and ordered a new one. so now they're buying two pumps. LCH

Lift pump failed Thanksgiving weekend at 25000 miles. Dealer replaced with in tank unit and 4 weeks later truck quit again. Diganosed as a bad CP-3, took 6 days to get pump, replaced same and still wouldnt run. Discovered that Pressure relief valve (or whatever it is called) failed and wouldn't allow the fuel rail to be pressurized. Replaced same and again all is well.

PS dealer left new CP-3 on truck so guess I made out OK.

60k on my stock '03, no problems. Getting ready to install a FASS pump just to be on the safe side.

I think some people have lift pump issues (or CP3 issues) and don't realize it.

This guy has long crank times on his truck.

http://www.turbodieselregister.com/f...d.php?t=146609

Doesn't even mention lift pump or CP3.

I think people and dealerships are just starting to put 2+2 = 4 together.

Maybe, maybe not. If this is a big problem (30% + failure rate) I'll throw another lift pump in my glove box. If not I ain't gonna worry about it. Dealer around me has never put one on. Chatted with a hotshot driver with a '03 at the dealer yesterday. He has 322k and he said no pumps yet. Worrying about "maybe" problems gives you grey hair. I don't have any yet and don't really want any.
Hopefully the poll will tell.
Hardwood I have no idea what you posted.
