I have the auto in my 06 also. There are a few reasons why I like the auto better that I have learned from first hand exp. On the 06 the tow/haul, o/d feature is the cat's Edit as soon as you figure out how it works. When I tow my fiver that way's between 10-12,000 lbs. I put her in tow/haul mode to raise the shift points and it also keeps the torque conv. locked for down hill braking and yes it really works. (come down a 5% grade that was 2 miles long and never touched the brakes once when I took it out of over drive). The other feature I like on the 06 is being able to take it out of o/d when in t/h mode. When I went up that same grade. I put it in t/h and took it out of o/d and the tach went to 2600 rpm's and I crested the top of the summit at 70 mph with a bunch more to go. I here alot of people talk about this 6 speed auto thing. For me no thanks. I think the 4 speed tranny they got now is the only way to go. The less gears the less gear hunting when pulling heavy loads. The 6/speed at 75 mph is at 2600 rpm. The auto is at 2200 rpm. This is just my take on the auto 6 speed thing. O I forgot the most important thing. I am to lazy to shift gears. GO AUTO AND NEVER LOOK BACK

finally someone thats not bashing the 48RE. i too agree that its a pretty nice tranny, and with some mods i think it could be even better. and your right the tow/haul mode w/ od lock out is great.

Help me out here. It appears that going to O/D Off kicks me out of Tow/Haul mode. Is this how the transmission is set up?

That's seem like what I experienced also. My question: does O/D disable still allow the TC to stay locked?
