Question 2005 Owners...a few Questions?

Hi 05 owners...
Going to look at a 2005 Dodge Quad Cab Diesel/Automatic 4x4 SLT with 10,000 miles on it.
Just wondering if this production year had any issues..Engine/Trany/Interior etc I should look out for.
Also, any feedback on expected fuel mileage from a light foot driver?

Thanks for any info

Haven't had any problems with mine so far, approaching 60,000 miles. Gets about 18 mpg back and forth to work empty. 75 miles/day.

Love mine. Only 23,000 so far but zero problems. It's my daily driver plus pulls our 10k travel trailer 8-10 trips / year.

HAMMER, u cant go wrong with a 05, as ive said in the past my previous truck was a 02 ho 6speed with 100 horse injectors and this 05 tows the same trailer just as strong or stronger. as far as milage i get 16 in town and 21 on the freeway, if i stay at the speed limit. im beyond happy with this truck. other than a seeping cp3 when its REALLY cold ive had zero problems in 23000 miles also.

If you decide to buy makesure that the warranty is transferable. Think it was 3/36 bumper to bumper, Maybe 7/70 drive line and 100K Cummins engine. Know the 04.5 had 7/70 but not sure on the 05's. Do know if you buy used you must pay a fee and transfer the warranty within a limited time period. Check your local dealer for info. If buying from dealer make it part of the deal, if private party try to get them to pay transfer fee in deal.

i have an 05 and its great, i got an early 05 that came with the NV5600 but they wont matter to you since yours is auto. Im getting around 21mpg with my mods. Like one above said the only down fall of my truck is the plastic ends on the intercooler but they havent cause me no problems yet and im at 36,000 miles very very far from break in!

Question Hey 05 Owners...

...would it be to much to ask, what you paid for your 05 and what trim level SLT/Lariat etc?
Thanks again.

I have 250,000KM on my 05 6spd. Still feels like new(ish). I have put 30,000km on since I bought it 6 months ago, and the only problem has bee a couple of broken lighting wires to the back. Not bad for that much mileage I think.

Just waiting for the plastic tanked aftercooler to let go, though. Maybe after my Smarty gets here!

I have the same truck you are looking at with 38000 on it and it has been to the dealer 0 times since I have owned it, and the previous owner brought it in once for a problem with the driver side heated mirror. So no problems, I love mine. I get 18 mpg and I drive with a heavy foot.

With only 10k miles on it drive it with a lead foot!! These seem to work better the harder you run them wierdest thing I've ever seen!!

If you do not run them then they seem to have problems!!

Don't expect any mileage gains until minimum 25k miles. Change the fuel filters regularly every 10k minimum and go synthetic oil asap.
