My buddy just picked up an 2004 24 valve with a significant amount of blow by (boiling smoke coming out of wheel wells at idle). We tore it down today to find some scarring on cylinder 1 and 6 as pictured. My question is what is the best route to take rebuild wise? Would a good honing, new rings and rod bearings, gaskets, and head bolts suffice? Or should we just go ahead and do a full rebuild? The truck has 370,xxx miles currently and was used for towing. I am somewhat new to Diesel engines so any help would be greatly appreciated.
