12V to Lift pump With Key out of Ignition
12V to Lift pump With Key out of Ignition
I'm pretty sure my lift pump died. There is no fuel that comes out of the stock filter housing WS drain when the key is turned to the on position or when the starter is bumped.
Backstory: I had a fuel line leak at the supply line from the tank on the back of the stock filter housing. I disconnected the batteries, repaired the fuel line. Reconnected the battery and I could hear the lift pump running. I thought the ignition was on so I ran over and found the keys sitting on the seat. So how could the lift pump be running with no ignition on? Shortly after that the lift pump sound stopped. I could not get the lift pump to actuate again. So I dropped the tank and measured the voltage at the connector that goes TO the lift pump and confirmed even with the key out the connector was supplying 12V to the lift pump. I know there is no traditional relay on the TIPM so I am guessing something in that circuit is commanding the voltage to be sent to the lift pump. Is there a any troubleshooting I can do before I buy a new TIPM? There does not appear to be accessible fuse or relay for the lift pump. Is there a pressure switch that could be telling the pump to run? With the key out of the ignition I would think nothing should power the lift pump though? I will feed the lift pump with direct battery voltage to confirm its dead but I need to find why it is energized with no command from the ignition. Please help! No one around here has a clue!
