06-u-joints and ball joints still problems?

Have read numerous threads on here about poor durability in regards to the u-joints and ball joints on the 05 and older models. Was wondering if the 06 will be the same or has anyone heard of any improvements that were made to improve durability?-Frog

I would think so, don't know that they changed anything on the 06 models.

My Ball joints lasted to 130k miles and were still ok. The ujoints are crap but so are most others... you virtually have to hand check all ujoints before install....high end aftermarkets are good. Spicer Originals are good and cheap. Replace them with greasables and lube often and they will last. I got about 45k miles per set of ujoints. Front axle end ujoints lasted to 125k miles. Rear ujoint on rear shaft and front shaft was worst. I'd get an aftermarket front shaft with real big qualtiy ujoints $395. and traction bars $395 and super heavy duty carrier bearing $65. then the truck is bombproof. ks
