Question 06 clutch, which one?

There are three levels of the con ofe clutches for a 6spd. The highest hp/tq rating is 1400. How long can I expect the clutch to last? I have 30k on the stock one with bullydog on performance. It will only slip once in a while under heavy load. Anyone have any experience? I do not want to do another clutch for 100k or more. I don't race and tow occassionally. Thanks in advance for all advice, Scott

Have you considered a Dual Disk clutch? I heard some of the single disks can be grabby when pulling a trailer. I think a Dual Disk can easily make it 100K miles under normal driving conditions (I know Peter at SBC has said he thinks a DD can make it 500K). Of course, the DD set-ups are expensive.

Question How expensive?

Who sells/makes a good one? I'm trying to decide on trading mine in on something or fix it. I wouldn't mind the 6spd auto, but the 6.7 is gonna be a fuel hog! Thanks again for the advice, Scott

South Bend is most likely your best choice, they can be a little more expensive but you are getting a good steel disk that won't come apart like the cheap Chinese version does that another company is selling so much cheaper.

You get what you pay for in clutches, no doubt about that

my ofe has been in for 12k miles or so. holding 100+ horses over what it is rated for. it is not grabby. i tow(10klbs) with it. great clutch. takes alot of abuse and is still smooth.
i would say if you are only gonna mod alittle(500hp and under) the ofe is awesome for street manners and towing.

call peter at southbend and talk with him about your intended needs and usage, he WILL NOT sell you more clutch than you really need. meaning, if he feels you need to run an $800ofe, then he will not try to get $2000 out of you for a DD.
a good producer of quality goods, and an honest man to boot.

Thumbs up

Lary can get these as well through the DTR store. Give him a call or PM him. I'm getting mine through here as soon as the pennies stack high enough. SBC Con OFE for me. Then I can unleash the Smarty onto mine.
