'04 cold clutch
'04 cold clutch
This is my first manual tans truck. I noticed the other morning it seemed much harder to shift gears smoothly when the temp reached down towards freezing. Is this normal on a cold morning? Thanks for the replies.

Blue04:
Yep, pretty normal-
Imagine what the oil looks like (if it's not synthetic) when the temp gets colder & colder -
Can you say 'molasses'....
It gets easier to shift when it warms up, right??

Re:'04 cold clutch
Yeah the tranny will take some time to loosen up a bit. My rig has a little over 9K miles on it and it is just now starting to shift smoother. As for the cold weather, pretty much any manual tranny will be harder to shift until the gear oil circulates and warms up. Another thing you can do is switch to a high quality synthetic like Redline MTL. This will also help the cold morning shifts.
