is there a way to tell from the vin if its an 04 or 04.5 looking on internet

Look and see were the collant tank is located, if its on the passengerside firewall its more likely that its a 04.5 if its located up front by the radiator then its an 04.

 

X2, another way to tell is if you have a sticker on the drivers side of valve cover it should have the Horsepower rating. 04 = 305 and 04.5 = 325 and another way to tell is to poke your head under the passenger side door look for the exhaust and look for a huge bulbous canister with tapered ends. That is your Kitty!!!

 

Easiest way is to open the driver door and look at the build date. Jan 04' up is an 04.5. Dec 03' and earlier is an 04.
