04 or 04.5?????

Ok guys i have been out the diesel loop for awhile. But now i bought a new cummins. Its an 04 but not sure if its 04 or 04.5 I know you can look at the sticker on the valve cover and see the HP rating but there is not a HP on there. It was built in aug of 2003.

I dont even remember the differences. I know my last truck was a 04.5 and that one was nice.

Is there a difference in tranny's and the waste gate on the turbo?

it's an early 04. 04.5 didn't come out to 1-1-04.

You have an early 04, mechanical wastegate he341 turbo 52/58-9mm, no CAT. The 04.5 up had the he351 (larger turbo as well) electronically controlled wastegate. The 48re is the same.

what was the point of making a year split for no differences. like why not just make the 03 right to the end of 03. then introduce the04 with 325hp!
seems like dodge never had there **** together. introduced the 94's but with no club cab. but then were building '95 club cabs in july '94 and the 98 with 24V. why not just wait till 99 or something with a whole new model yr?
also didn't the super duty (99)Fords come out in early 98. so y not call them 98s?
i think if a vehicles built that yr then thats what yeat it should be called. then just use a sliding rule in the book for value based upon what month it hit the road.

If yours still has the sticker on the valve cover, sometimes it will say 235ISB, 250ISB, 305ISB, or 325ISB. That is still your HP rating....
