'03 turbo capability
'03 turbo capability
I have been very impressed with the results from the fuel pressure boxes we have heard about but I am a little confused ??? . I had always heard that the HY-35 with its 9 cm flange was very restrictive and would never support over about 300 rwhp. Yet the results we see show some manufactures are currently getting over 350 rwhp and promise us 400 rwhp once the timing boxes get here while still using the stock HY-35
. I have also heard reports of the HY-35 putting out over 35 psi of boost. Is the '03 really using a HY-35 or not? Thanks for any help with my diesel education.

The Boss Hog
(still learn'n in Florida

Re:'03 turbo capability
For boost Ive seen 37 with the ez. It was 35 max before I installed the pusher pump kit. Those upcoming boxes are going to be pushing the stock turbo to its limits. Hard to say how things will shake out in terms of egts and what not until they get these things out and folks can put em to the test. Mark at TST told me that on the highest setting he was barking his turbo pretty regular and was not optamistic about its longevity.

Crabman,
Thanks for the feedback. Could you please explain exactly what "barking" is? Also, isn't 37 psi well beyond what the Hy-35/9 (or Hy-35/10 according to Muddy) was designed for? Thanks,

The Boss Hog
Re:'03 turbo capability
Here is a link where barking the turbo is explained far better than I could. And yes our little bitty turbos are getting beyond their modest capabilities at that boost. Im not worried about mine cause its not going to be in the engine room too long.
