Wrecked My Beloved Beast :'-(

I was making a roadtrip one afternoon about three weeks ago when the weather here was so cold, hit a patch of black ice, fishtailed, went into the ditch, hit a turn-in drive, then went up the steep side of the ditch and rolled over onto my roof. Luckily, there wasn't a scratch on me, but the truck was gone, mainly because the roof was collapsed down to the tops of the front seats. Within 1.5 miles of my wreck, there were three or four other wrecks that occurred within two hours (one, we saw rollover as we were leaving my scene). So it was one of those bad areas where there's no ice up the highway, but the ice starts right there.

Anyway, been without a truck since, but yesterday I picked up a truck just like mine, cept it's a 2001.5 instead of 2001 and it's red. Still though...she ain't quite like my previous baby. Got some things to do to it to get it just the way I want it, but I'm extremely happy that I found a good truck like I had. Anyway, just thought I'd let you folks know that I wrecked my truck.

How much of the aftermarket stuff/accessories can you salvage for the new to you 2001.5?

There's a thread about that on here somewhere. I pulled all my expensive stereo equipment, but couldn't really take the bumpers, running boards, and exhaust. I was out of town (stranded there for two days in a motel while the roads were iced). I'm currently trying to get back to my truck to at least get the running boards and exhaust, but I'm not sure if that's even going to happen at this point. The stereo stuff was pretty important though. I've got about $1,500 in stereo equipment (that probably actually costs closer to $3,000), so being able to save that stuff was pretty good.

LOL...yeah, my dash strobes still worked, surprisingly. Those were like $80 though...nothing big there. Funny that you guys are focusing on the equipment so much.

Aggies are pretty cheap. It's a supply & demand thing.

Like vultures? But maybe it's good they are reminding you, because I'd sure hate to forget the extras if it happened to me. The insurance company sure won't pay you for them. I'd probably see if I could buy it back form them for salvage cost and strip it for the new truck, or to sell.

Is this the one you wrote up the page about clearance light installation on?

I had to check out the gallery and I also have questions about the tires. How did you like them? The tread looks pretty deep on them.
How much did they cost?
How loud were they?

My condolences, though. I know I wouldn't want to go through it.

Thanks,
Chris

Hmmmm...about how much do you think that "salvage cost" might be for the whole vehicle?

LOVED them. There's a thread on here about them. Do a search for Trailcutter. I think I paid about $125-$135 each for them and they held up wonderfully. That is what I will get on my new truck when the tires wear out.

Not to be sadist or anything but, we need some post accident pictures.

That feeling of going over really suck don't it. I went 90 degrees twice. Once my fault, once not. Wife was with me both times. Second time she got a bruise on her arm. Like you we were gaurded.

Ouch!
Dude, be glad your in one piece. People die in similar crashes.

Besides, now you already know how to mod a 2nd Gen, it'll go much quicker and cleaner this time!

Someones gonna want to get some Gunk around that diff, you keep it pretty crudy down there.
