Trouble replacing lights
Trouble replacing lights
Has anyone else had trouble removing the bulbs from a sport truck headlight? I read and re-read the instructions from my service manual and I still can not get the darned things out. The manual tell's me to remove the wiring ( which un-plugs easily) and then twist the holder 1/4 turn counterclockwise. when I try this on either side no luck they won't budge. anybody know the secret I don't want to brake the clips.
Sometimes the harness that holds the bulbs inplace gets alot of buildup and junk around it, making hard to turn and pull out. Just keep on working on it like the instructions state and it should pry loose and slide outta place. You have to be firm with the thing. The plastic is stronger than you think. I got so fed up w/ mine one time, I told myself to helk with'em and tried to break em off and just replace them. Being that "firm" with'em, the came on out. Good luck.

Don't forget the rubber "O" ring that seals the lamp up, usually that gets pretty dry and has to be "Wiggled" out.
The Rings turn the same as a regular nut, lefty loosy, righty tighty

PS Seriously Blackjack, they are tough to get to, if you have to the side marker lamp is held in place with one torx head screw. You can remove the headlamp capsule by removing three (i think) ten mm bolts, two from the grille side and one under the side marker (there might be two under there). That would give you better access to the killer "ring".

Thank's for the replys I think I will just remove the Head light where I can get hold of the thing better thanks magnum for telling me how to get them out.
BTW has anyone replaced just the bright lights (sport Model) with the high intensity light. I drive in the country alot and would like to have a brighter high beam. I want to leave the low beam non offenseive to other drivers. I hate looking at the high white or blue lights even in the low beam,

Blackjack,
I was wrong on the torx head, the side marker is held in place with a phiiiips head screw. Face the fender, look between the bumper and the side marker, should be able to see it.
The headlamp capsule/mount panel bolts are- open your hood, look at the curved vertical radiator support, and just to the right or left you'll see the 10mm head bolts. They are more like a "lag" bolt, or very coarse thread. The capsule is a bit of a PITA to remove with the bumper assy on, but you should be able to wiggle it out. PM me if you have any problems.
Sorry about mis-leading you
