Trailer Light Wiring Problem

A while back a friend came up to me in the parking lot at work and informed me that my brake lights were not working on the drive in.

After work I checked the brake lamp fuse under the hood and found it to be blown. Hoping that it was a freak occurance I changed the fuse and drove home.

Lights worked fine for a few days then the fuse blew again. On a hunch I un-plugged my trailer brake controller (had trouble with it before) and I thought that had solved my problem.

A few weeks later I looked out of my house and noticed that my brake lights were on steady (truck had been parked for some time). The only way I could get them to go out was to removed the trailer fuse (under hood).

Long story short I know that I've got a short somewhere in my trailer light/brake wiring and am wondering if there are any common trouble spots where a connector corrodes or wires rub on something.

Anyone experience this before?

Thanks,
Dave

it won't be in the plug part making them stay on. All of that is after the brake switch down by the foot pedal which is exactly where I'd start. They are adjustable an do need it sometimes. Also make sure nothing is hanging making it activate. i know of someone that had a cruise cutting out issue and we found a wire had fallen, touching his switch enuff to make it release the cruise.
