Tires
What are some of your thoughts on tires? I've got the dealer tires now and they don't look like they'll do so hot in the winter. So I might be looking to refit the truck with an all season tire that performs well in snow and rain with a good tread life. Tell me all about them!

Re:Tires
Do you have a 4x4? My stock tires do fine in the snow for 3 years now. Especially in 4 whl dr the extra wt of the Eng really makes a lot of difference in packed snow, I was impressed the first time.

Re:Tires
I do alot of off road in rocks and brush and have real good luck with B. F Goodrich all terrains most of them come 10 ply with a 3 ply sidewall. Had maybe 3 or 4 flats mostly nails in 4 yrs. There also pretty quiet on the highway. Whatever tire you pick needs to be a load range E. Believe thats what they require

Re:Tires
If you tow, I would use load range E. If not I wouldn't go below a D range. I can't find an E range in a mud tire, but you can in a allterrian. I run dunlop mud tires in the winter, I just don't tow when I do. Otherwise I run the stock Michelins. I've had the Michelins in the mud before, and they performed great. I don't know about the snow.

Re:Tires
The stock Michelin's my friend had off his 2001 were horrible in the snow and ice. We got it stuck twice, switched to GoodYear ATs and it made a huge difference. (not knocking michelin) Just my experience.

Re:Tires
On my old truck I had a knock off from cooper called Eldorado. They were awesome when plowing but I was a little disapointed in the tread wear :'(. I don't do a ton of towing but I run with about a ton of salt in the truck the better part of the winter :. The new truck is a 4x4 and I was looking for a tire that would give me side wall support, tread wear and rain and snow traction. Do they make such an animal [undecided]?

I guess that's why people get dually's.
Traction up front. (4X4 and Cummins weight)
Sidewall support on inside dual.
Treadwear on outside dual.
