Tailgate cable strength?

Does anyone know the load capacity of the tailgate cables? They dont look as strong as the folding metal and I have heard of some breaking. Although breakage has been due to rusty cables.

Re:Tailgate cable strength?

I really don't know the test breaking strenght but the cable itself is a big as the cable on my quad winches and they are rated to 2000 lbs. I've had 3 dodges so far and never broke a cable yet - with lots of hard use as well loading quads and various other equipment.
