Tail gate pivots , removal ?

I have a used topper , that is hitting the tail gate pivots , the pivots look to be spot welded in , or is there a fastener that I am not seeing ?
Thanks John

can you post a pic? by your description i visualize where the tail gate is hooked the the bed, if you remove the tail light assy you will see where they are welded in, it is not spot welded, it looks like they are welded with a mig in two places

There are some differences between your yr & mine , but removing the tail lite is what I will do .
I was hoping for fasteners , I like any changes I make to be reversible .
Thanks
