Stock Jack and Lug Wrench Compatability

Does anyone know if the jack and lung wrench from a 1500 is the same as the one that came with a 2500? When I bought my truck the jack and lug wrench were missing and I would like to get a set for my truck from a junkyard.

Thanks,

Bob

Forget the oem junk. Get a hydraulic bottle jack and find a cheap 1/2" drive breaker bar and socket. A 1/2" drive extension will fit into the spare tire crank.

X2, it's worse than useless. It will let you down just when you are down. Not sure about the 1/ 2 drive extension fitting the spare crank though as it's 6 sided.

A lot of folks have found out the hard way that it would have been very wise to test out the OEM jack in your driveway rather than 250 miles from home.

Well I know that the stock jack will lift the truck ( stock meaning for a 2500 ) when empty but the wheel wrench that came with my truck is for a 1500. Try that out when you have a flat and the wrench doesn't fit the bigger wheel nuts. I went to Dodge and with the warranty expired they told me the I must have made the mistake. Like I would loose mine and find one for a 1500. Like said get a breaker bar, extension, and socket and be done.

The spare tire winch key is handy to have. I know the one from my 96 Dakota fit, as did one from a 98 1500. I keep a "crows foot" prybar in the govebox, as the hex-shaped handle fits right in there too.

I have a + sided lug wrench and a cheater pipe extension for it. The lugs need to be around 140# torqued and are hard to get off in the middle of the night in the rain!

My factory jack looks just robust enough for a few tries, I'd go with a 3 ton bottle jack.
