steering stabilizer question
steering stabilizer question
After putting on 35's I get a little wobble and bump steer, not too bad. Buddy told me a stabilizer would help, now which one? I've seen the solid one, dual stabilizers, and of course single. Every manufacturer description says they are necessary and the best. Can someone explain why go with one compared to the other? BTW, my steering components are fine (box, no play).
I purchased a Bilstein and noticed a difference over the stock one w/225k miles. I think it was $99 on fleabay. You might want to also consider a steering brace to improve the steering and support the steering box, also making a difference!
I am also looking into a box support, as I am finding that im driving the truck harder than expected- how hard are they to put on and where do they go? It looks like the box is bolted to the frame already.
The steering box support is money well spent. As far as single versus double steering stabilizer, I have never had more than a single cylinder, and they have done fine. Personally, I think double is overkill unless you have very large tires; there's a reason why no truck comes new with two steering stabilizers. Some don't come with any at all.
The brace and the stabilizer have no connection to each other. The stabilizer mounts to the frame near the track bar mount, and the drag link. The brace goes from sway bar mount to sway bar mount, interfacing with the pitman arm shaft. They won't interfer with each other.
