Steering column swap?

I have a 97 1ton and a 98 3/4ton. Can I swap the steering columns and have everything plug and play or do I have to change stuff? I want to put the 98 column, wheel and all in the 97.

both 12v? both auto or manuals? I know a 98 24valve manual will interchange with a 99 auto, but they have the same controls. Im assuming your wanting the updated controls in the 97?

Same trucks, same trans same options just different interiors and I broke the clock spring in my 97. Figured I could put the newer column and wheel with the nicer cruise controls in instead of fixing the clock spring in the 97.

Don't know about the swap, but if you need a new clockspring, Auto Zone has new ones for 45 bucks on their website..... Just happened to see it while cruising the site.
