Stack or not
Stack or not
ok on my 96 it is stock down pipe and then 4" from there out the back. i found a brand new 4" down pipe and was thinking about doing 5"off the down pipe and going into a 6" mitter cut. now what do yall think?
I just got through cutting off a 'stack' setup to go with a 4 down and 5 back. Stacks are stupid....nothing like cutting a HOLE IN THE BED to put in a gaudy stack that you will tire of soon and limits the usefulness of the truck bed...just say no!!

I would rather do it to my 96 and find out that i don't like it then to do it to my 04. i'm not sure if i want them or not i agree with yall and disagree i just want to see for my self. if the stack turns out to be something i don't like then i'm out nothing and i will do 5" all the way out. i'm on the fence now but like i said its my 96 so not gonna hurt anything. we are going to say the cut out of the bed so i can put it back it everything goes south. and as far as the bed space its an 8' bed so a little 6" hole in the bed isn't donna bother me.
Ok i got my down pipe today and looked under the truck and found that i was wrong about what i had on the truck. it isn't 4" it is the 3.5" straight so i think i am just gonna take the 4"down and do 5 out the rear. should sound great.

agreed- stacks look wrong on these trucks- now if you had a stepside bed, running a stack (4 inch) through the step pad like the lil red express would look different.
Got many inspection stations here that will fail a pickup for stacks as the legality of them is dubious here.
Really, unless you up the turbo and really boost the coal burner 5 inch is overkill anyway. I have been thinking about running 4 inch down and dropping out in front of the rear wheel, but again local inspection guy feels that is illegal, tho I can't find legal reference to it being so.

to each their own. i have had a full 4" and 5" and now a single stack and to be honest its actually not as loud as I thought I dont have a 5inch exhaust bouncing sound off a wall or parked things. can I change it back if I want sure can. can a hole in your bed be fixed sure can. the legal issue with a stack dont know never found a law that stated that living all over the commi west coast. does my exhaust breath anymore than a 5" who knows. do I like it hell yes. does it **** people off maybe. does it make people look at it and say that shouldn't be there. maybe. To each their own.

Stacks look kinda cool, but not functional for me. I have a 4inch down from the turbo and a 5 inch tip. I'm really happy with the sound of it, it's loud, and obvious, but not too loud. Has a nice growl, it's all magnaflow.
