Solved my headlight problem

As we all know, the 2nd Gen Rams don't have the greatest headlights unless you have the Sport option.

I pondered going the Sport conversion route but decided to go just a little further as shown below............I can see where I'm going now!

Don't know about Canada but in the US driving on a public road with lights like that is illegal unless they have covers over them.

In all the years of using multiple brands of driving lights, Hella, Bosch, KC, Cibie, etc, these have to the most brightest lights I have ever used.

You can adjust the beam by rotating the reflector like a Maglite flashlite. I have them adjusted to a tight spot beam and the 2 combined are putting usable light easily 3/4 of a mile or more down the road and at least 15 ft on either side of the road. The things are mental at 10 inches in diameter and at 1.46 million candlepower between the 2, they just flat out work!!!

Infidel.....Around here, nobody seems to make a big deal about running covers on thier lights. Most of the logging and highway trucks around here run these same lights. I do have covers for them if need be depending on where I am going.

I just have to add another set to "fill" in the shadows. I might drop down a size , you never know. I could just step up a bulb size and bump the candlepower to 2 million.

He'll know if there is a heat problem when the bug shield lays down on the hood, or the top bar of the brush guard starts to glow.

Great lights!

I was out roaming around late last nite. There is one straight section of road here in town. At the far end, the road kind of turns to the right and dives down a bit of a hill and ends at an lighted intersection.

As I was coming up the straight section headed towards this intersection. I can turn off all the street lights with the light these things put out!!!! The angle that I am heading towards them lights up the photocells and they think it's daytime. After I went thru the intersection, the street lights came back on.

I thought that was kind of cool!!

Jeff you weren't using those for alternative out of season activities were you. I have run Bosch Pilots and Hella 450's for critter protection for 4 years on my truck and avoided many a confrontation between me and moose. Grill guard lights much easier to install than Sport headlights. PK

Homestead where did you get them and how much $, Phil at High country in Sundre had brought a set in for a customer and the price he quoted was much better than the offroad places- $350/pair. I know there are a couple of different sizes available, nice thing about them is the Lexan covers not glass. PK

$350 a pair is a great price for the 240 Blitz's, all I have ever found is around $400 and change for the 240's. Those are the ones that I have mounted. You can go 2 sizes smaller, either the 140's or the 170's.

Get hold of Scotty, I was talking to him awhile ago and he was looking into getting/carrying Lightforce lights.

I'm going to get a set of the 170's to mount lower and use for a little fill in the dark/shadowy areas . As far as I'm concerned, you can't have to much light, you just have to think about where you use them.

The biggest problem with the 240's is size. They are 10 inches in diameter and you will need a light bar to mount them properly. There are a couple of trucks here in town with the 170's just bolted thru the top of the bumper so that will work in a pinch.

The construction of the lights are bulletproof, literally! Lightforce has shot them with 12 guage shotguns and 22 calibre rifles and barely a scratch.

Hope it helps!

Jeff
