Rotor Dust Shield

I am replacing the drivers side front axle U joint tomorrow. The existing shield is rusted into pieces and I am wondering if I need to replace it with a new one or just leave it off.

Thanks

John

I'd replace it. It not only keeps dirt and other junk from the rotor, it helps direct air to the rotor for cooling.
