replacement tires
getting to that point where i need a set of new tires. 2001 CTD w/dual wheels. i seldom tow anything of any major weight and if i do tow its just a tiny 1500lb. atv. 98% of the time the truck is on black top so not too concerned about getting big noisey knobbies.
any suggestions?

Coopers
I replaced mine with Cooper Discover AT. I went with the ATs mainly for the snow and the little bit of off road that I do. Most of the guys at work run Coopers of one flavor or another as well. I like them becasue they wear and handle very well. I should get 60,000+ out of the current set.
I have also ran BFG MT on a couple of other trucks and had some issues with the sidewalls cracking (to the poin they burst). I love they way the BFGs look and work but I can't recomend them.

Cooper also makes a H/T tire that wears a little better on the highway if you don't need the extra traction of the A/T. Either one would work great for you. Maybe this will help as well. I got 84,000 miles on a set of Cooper's on my Dakota 4X4. Cooper also has a wear out warranty, I don't think BFG does.

Whatever tires you get I highly recommend you have them siped for longer life and better traction. Click for more info on siping
And that you use tire balance beads instead of the old pound on lead weight method. Longer life/wear and cheaper to boot.

The Cooper's I just put on my 1997 look like they have a lot of siping from the factory. Would this be as good or better than siping done at the tire shop?
