power steering pump and box options?

howdy all
time to replace power steering pump.
OEM from cummins look to be around $800
Borgeson pump from Geno's is $195.
There's a new "Edelmann Elite" on Rock for $165
PSC has a couple too.
I've seen talk of a HD Mopar 6 bolt box too but can those go on a 2nd gen ('97)? I've not seen any sort of adapter or kit so not sure if these would work?

I like the idea of better flow and pressure if that's true of the Borgeson, but I've also heard they tend to fail fairly often...

Any suggestions?

Planning to remove vacuum/ps pump as a unit, reseal vacuum pump while out, and replace steering box as well while I'm at it. Have a redhead box but it's got some heavy use on it and is feeling pretty tired.
would appreciate any advice anyone may have on this procedure.
thanks!!

You definitely want to pull the vacuum and PS pumps together, so you can reinstall them together. It's easy enough to pull the PS pump alone, but when you do that it can be extremely frustrating trying to line the coupler up inside the vacuum pump (it was for me, anyway).

I don't know what you'll replace your box with, but if you're considering one with a protective coating then think about making your own thread cleaning tap before you start. When I replaced my box, the reman box had protective coating on the threads of the mounting ears and I had to make a thread cleaning tap from another bolt of the same size (love mid-project trips to the parts store for little stuff like that!). Got a Dremel?

My friends with 2ndgens like the Delphi 680 box (aka 'borgeson'). It's a Chevy Silverado box that is adapted. The ratio is quicker. They hold up well with a steering brace.
